Essential data

Captain Wordle collects only the data required for the game to work:

• Account identifiers: username, email, and password (stored securely).
• Game progression: scores, matches, statistics, challenges, leaderboards, and rewards.
• Social data: friends, invitations, private groups, and related interactions.
• Technical data: device identifiers, operating system, app version, and limited technical logs.
• In-app purchases: transaction history and status via Google Play Billing.

Purposes and legal bases

We use your data for the following purposes:

• Create, authenticate, and manage your player account (contract performance).
• Save your progression, scores, and rewards (contract performance).
• Enable social features, challenges, and leaderboards (contract performance).
• Process in-app purchases and prevent fraud (contract performance and legitimate interest).
• Ensure service security, maintenance, and improvement (legitimate interest).
• Display ads via Google AdMob when you use the free version (consent or legitimate interest depending on the case).

Google and AdMob

Captain Wordle uses Google Sign-In, Google Play Billing, Google Play Integrity, and Google AdMob. AdMob may collect or receive advertising identifiers, usage data, and measurement signals to display ads, limit their frequency, and measure their performance. You can manage personalized ads from your device settings or from the in-app settings when that option is available.

Service providers

Your data is never sold. It is shared only with the service providers required to operate Captain Wordle:

• Google (AdMob, Play Billing, Sign-In, Play Integrity).
• Our infrastructure hosting provider (Vercel).
• Our transactional email provider.

Retention

Game and account data is kept while your account remains active. Technical and security logs are retained for a limited period proportionate to their purpose. Purchase-related data may be kept longer when required by law.

Local storage and cookies

The app and website may use local storage or strictly necessary cookies to remember your language, session, or technical preferences. We do not use advertising cookies on the marketing website.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt, communications use HTTPS, and data access is limited to what the service requires.

Account deletion

You can request deletion of your account from the public page available on our website or from the link in the application settings. After email confirmation, Captain Wordle deletes or anonymizes the personal data associated with the account. Some transactional or security-related information may be retained when necessary to comply with a legal obligation, prevent fraud, or manage a dispute. Such information is limited and anonymized whenever possible.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and applicable laws, you can exercise the following rights by contacting us:

• Access, rectification, deletion, and restriction of processing of your data.
• Objection to certain processing based on legitimate interest.
• Portability of the data you have provided to us.
• Withdrawal of your consent for personalized ads when consent is the legal basis.
• Lodging a complaint with the CNIL or the competent authority in your country.

Adult audience

Captain Wordle is intended for adults or users with the required parental authorization. The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data about them.
